The gastrointestinal tract is a complex organ system of great diagnostic importance in both production and companion animals. The Gastrointestinal system has complex anatomy and physiology with significant species differences, which can make navigating both normal anatomy and pathologic changes a challenge. The range of aetiological agents, particularly infectious diseases in production animals, means this organ system is a popular choice for a refresher at the ASVP 2015 annual conference on what is new and what is still true.
