ASVP Members & conference delegates,
Unfortunately, the continuing disruptions due to COVID-19 have forced the cancellation of the 2020 ASVP Annual Conference and the joint program with the World Congress of Veterinary Dermatology and the International Society of Veterinary Dermatopathology.
Current travel restrictions, mandatory quarantine and social distancing measures have made conferences unworkable and it was considered that even if restrictions were lifted, the timeframe was getting too short to expect potential delegates to make travel plans. In addition, many potential delegates and presenters are from countries less fortunate than Australia in their exposure to COVID-19 and their travel plans may be impractical.
The ASVP, WCVD and ISVD will discuss the provision of some online content in lieu of the conference but it is unclear what form this will take – we will keep you updated. The Committee will also discuss our obligations to hold an AGM and how we can best communicate with membership and receive your feedback.
While the WA Committee is disappointed that the Conference has been cancelled, we hope you will continue to support us and the future Victorian Committee as we try to serve ASVP membership in these interesting times. We are working on providing online spaces for special interest groups within ASVP and looking to move into social media; both initiatives that may provide pathology forums while conferences are off the agenda.
